Follow Up On Gemstone Blog

I found it interesting that I just wrote a blog on "Learn How to Choose Gemstones - Follow the Trend" yesterday. I almost fell off my chair when the evening news came on with a story about giving gemstone jewelry. The thing is, some people are giving fake gemstones.

The reporter interviewed one company who deals with polishing and enhancing these little beauties in order to get them ready to be used in today's trendy fashion jewelry. It seems that the fake gemstone can be fashioned in more trendy designs than the semi precious gemstone. For example, the casing holding the fake gemstone, can be design in more elaborate designs and have the look of the real thing.

The Fox 2 News reporter, then surveyed men with the question: "Would you give a piece of fake gemstone jewelry if the person couldn't tell the difference from the real thing? And would you confess that it's not real?"

Results of the survey: Some men said they would confess, while the remaining fake gemstone givers said they wouldn't. I guess that means, if you get gemstone jewelry this Valentines Day, you should get it appraised if you can't tell wheather it fake or real.

In my opinion, I would consider buying an ornate piece for myself maybe? I happen to like the real thing, but if I received gemstones as a present, I certainly want the real thing. I am not forgetting that "it's the thought that counts." If you are interested Tanzanite is the hottest gemstone going now.

What's your opinion? Would you give a fake gemstone? If you got a fake gemstone as a present, would you love it because it was given in love?

Post your comment.
