4Savvy Shopper Blogging About Bob::Shopping for Bob Marley

Shopping For Bob Marley
As promised here is my bit on Bob Marley, the man known for his Reggae Music political stance and Rastafarian beliefs.
To be completely honest, I didn't know much about Bob Marley a few years ago. My brother introduced me to the music which I found quite rhythmic. He went on and on about how great Marley's music was and there will never be another Reggae musician like this one.
I didn't think too much about it until I read a piece on The Post Online "Get up, stand up for Marley fest." The legacy of Bob Marley and his contributions to Caribbean music will be honored Friday during the Bob Marley Music Festival, sponsored by Ohio University's Multicultural Programs and Lindley Cultural Center.
There appears to be a whole Bob Marley Pop culture, (if I can say that) out there. It seems Marley memorabilia is a big business. So I went shopping to see what's available. Found one web site selling Morley Posters $275 and if you want it signed, the price is $350. Signed by the photographer, not Bob Marley.
I think I am on to something. My search took me to About.Com, this article caught my attention "Is Bob Marley overated?" The pros and cons of is effect on Reggae.
Read the article and judge for yourself.
However Rita Morley's web site is about Bob Marley's life. The following is an excerpt:
"And his audience continues to widen: to westerners Bob's
apocalyptic truths prove inspirational and life-changing; in the Third World his impact goes much further. Not just among Jamaicans, but also the Hopi Indians of New Mexico and the Maoris of New Zealand, in Indonesia and India, and especially in those parts of West Africa from which slaves were plucked and taken to the New World, Bob is seen as a redeemer figure returning to lead this planet out of confusion.

The tiny Third World country of Jamaica has produced an artist
who has transcended all categories, classes, and creeds through a combination of innate modesty and profound wisdom. Bob Marley, the Natural Mystic, may yet prove to be the most significant musical artist of the twentieth century."
